Summary of Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Director, Student Involvement, the Assistant Director (Student Governance/Organizations) position is integral to the overall program distribution of Student Involvement in its consistent and innovative delivery of comprehensive co-curricular and extra-curricular programs and services. The Assistant Director oversees recognized student organizations, co-advises the Student Government Association and provides supervision and oversight for the University Fraternity and Sorority community. This includes budgetary decisions, the development, execution and assessment of programs and services. This position supervises full-time staff members and is responsible for all hiring, disciplinary action, evaluations, etc. of these staff members. The position must maintain current knowledge of student organizations, Student Government best practices, and issues and trends impacting social fraternities and sororities. As an Assistant Director, this position helps to coordinate the development/fundraising and assessment for the department in addition to special projects of the department. Must have successful experience working with and supporting diverse populations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Education •Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, Public Administration or related field. Minimum Experience •Minimum three years full-time post master’s experience working in student life. •Minimum 1-2 year’s experience in developing and managing student organizations. •Minimum 1-2 year’s experience in working with or advising Student Government Associations’. •Successful experience developing relationships with faculty, staff, students and alumni. •Experience with budgets, publicity methods, leadership training, student development, etc. •Successful experience working with and a commitment to diverse populations. •Minimum one year experience supervising full-time or graduate level staff.
