Maintenance of streets and public transportation infrastructure is accomplished through a number of efforts, including street maintenance, traffic control and sign maintenance, pavement cleaning, street lighting, and emergency response, most frequently snow and ice removal. Service areas include over 5,100 lanes miles of paved streets, 368 vehicular bridges, over 50,000 street signs, 429 signalized intersections, and over 27,000 street lights. Required Experience and Training: Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering or a related field, and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in construction, design and/or operations engineering work. Experience in government (municipal) engineering preferred. A PE license is preferred, or registration as a professional civil engineer in the State of Kansas within one year of hiring is required. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered. Ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license required. Offers of employment are upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.
