Summary of Responsibilities Candidates for faculty positions should be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively educate and empower a diverse student population. Wichita State University is in its 43rd year of offering the MFA in a 48-hour studio-academic program. We seek a dynamic individual to be part of our creative writing program which attracts graduate students from around the country and the world. Students enrolled in the MFA program are financially supported with GTA stipends and tuition remission and teach undergraduates of diverse backgrounds including many who are the first in their families to attend college. The appointee will be expected to teach nine hours each semester at the graduate and undergraduate levels (creative writing, literature, composition) and direct MFA theses while continuing to be a productive writer. Minimum Education •Requirements: an MFA or Ph.D. in creative writing with a concentration in fiction;university level. Minimum Experience •Fiction writers are invited to apply to teach in Wichita State University’s MFA and undergraduate creative writing programs. This is a tenure-eligible position for an Assistant Professor of English in Creative Writing: Fiction beginning Fall 2018. Requirements: an MFA or Ph.D. in creative writing with a concentration in fiction; a significant record of publication (either a book of fiction published or under contract with a reputable literary press and/or substantial fiction appearances in nationally recognized journals); and evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level.
