This is specialized work transmitting and receiving messages from law enforcement and public safety personnel, assigned mobile units, and other stations on the communications network in accordance with regulations of the Federal Communications Commission. Work involves transmitting and receiving messages and alarms on two-way radio systems, data entry terminals (CRT), teletype, telephone, and in person. Work includes operating a base station two-way radio; transmitting and receiving messages to/from law enforcement or public safety agencies and personnel; monitoring locations and status of law enforcement personnel; operating a data entry terminal to send, relay, and receive inter-state and intra-state information; providing information and services to the general public; monitoring alarms and warning systems; and properly maintaining logs, records and other reports. Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent Minimum Experience N/A Knowledge, skills and abilities MS XP, Excel, Word Shall be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a named-based record check before employment is offered or before job duties are assigned that might expose them to NCIC/KCJIS sensitive information. Shall be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a fingerprint-based check within 30 days after initial employment or assignment and before unconditional employment is offered. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, syntax, vocabulary, and pronunciation rules and usage Ability to follow oral and written orders Ability to accurately remember oral and written information Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, agency employees, and the general public Required Licenses, Certificates & Registrations NCIC/KCJIS Mandatory successful completion of training and obtain certification within 6 months of hire. If not obtained, hire will be terminated.
