High school diploma or its equivalent preferred. No special training is required, vocational education in heating and A/C controls would be helpful. Preferred Experience Sufficient experience with heating and A/C, electrical maintenance and pneumatic, electronic controls would be helpful. Prefer at least two (2) years skilled level experience in two (2) separate mechanical or building trades or crafts. Preferred refrigerant certification (CFC) For what purpose, with whom and how frequently are contacts made with the public, other employees or officials? The majority of contacts are made with Physical Plant personnel for the purpose of exchanging work-related information. Occasional contact with faculty and staff from other departments will be made in the performance of the assign duties. The purpose of the contact is to obtain, clarify, give or screen established factual information, regardless of the type (i.e., easily understood or technical) within a well-defined relationship. Normal communication skills are required. Regular Hours of Work 7:45 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Friday, Additional shifts are frequently required on evenings and weekends to cover events. Environmental Factors The work environment involves hazards, risks or discomforts typical of working with or around machinery with exposed moving parts, irritant chemicals, heavy equipment or abusive or hostile clientele and extreme levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting and sound are normal. Protective clothing or gear and specific safety standards or procedures may be required. Serious injury is possible. List machines or equipment used regularly in the work of this position. Hand and Power ToolsDaily Test EquipmentDaily Cushman ScooterDaily (Used for on campus transportation and material hauling) Forklift, Scaffolding, Ladder As needed Proposed Job Duties Responsibility / Duty Monitors buildings per established schedule ensuring that all air handling equipment, pumps, humidifiers, filters, valves, thermostats, pneumatic and electronic control systems, and energy management equipment are operating at maximum efficiency. Making necessary adjustments and repairs to electric and mechanical schematics with knowledge of industrial air conditioning and electrical principles, or referring the equipment to the proper maintenance unit.
