Responsible for operation of various types of equipment as training is completed including various mechanical winders, hot knives, overwrap machines, packaging machines, conveyors, and tapers. Responsible for loading and unloading unwind stands and boxing finished goods. Collects quality testing samples and enters production data in a computer. Responsible for meeting departmental objectives. Responsible for mentoring and training new operators. Maintains cleanliness of area and ensures safe, productive work environment. Key Responsibilities Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with Great Lakes Polymer Technologies policies Must be able to set up, clean, and operate equipment and machinery where ordinary adjustments are required, as well as clean, disassemble and remove it at the end of a job. Must be able to perform manual tasks where accuracy is important. Must be able to set-up and adjust instruments, as well as enter data using a computer keyboard. Verify proper materials used to produce product per work order Set up and operate process equipment according to procedures. Maintain proper settings for correct product type and size. Properly label and package product according to work order requirements. Required to meet plant average for attendance. Review and interpret work orders, specification and instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings and adjustments Fill out daily production sheets and production system accurately and completely Record and maintain data related to downtime, including amount of time, reason for downtime and actions to correct the problem Keep all waste and scrap levels within company guidelines Notify supervisors when produced materials fail to meet standards Keep work area clean, organized and free of debris to maintain a safe facility Perform material handler duties as necessary Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor Other Duties: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. High school diploma or equivalent GED required. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required Minimum of two years experience in plant environment Motivated, team player Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. Ability to adapt to quickly changing schedules. Ability to work with minimal to moderate supervision.
