Description: Payroll and Human Resources (HR) Clerk requires attention to detail and thoroughness. Must be able to effectively fulfill administrative responsibilities and perform duties related to payroll, data entry, and general HR duties. Expected to be able to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality and have strong people skills. Competencies: 1. Must be able to accurately and efficiently enter payroll and HRl information by collecting, calculating, and analyzing data. 2. Expected to be able to update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers. 3. Expected to be able to resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. 4. Must be able to communicate effectively resulting in the ability to answer questions and resolve issues when they arise. 5. Expected to be able to maintain payroll and HR operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes. 6. Must be able to maintain employee confidence and protect payroll and HR operations by keeping information confidential. 7. Expected to assist with employee hiring. 8. Must be extremely organized in maintaining payroll and HR records. 9. Expected to assist with general human resources clerical duties, such as creating personnel files and processing applications. 10. Expected to assist in projects, such as; HR events, benefits open enrollment, employee communications and company-wide meetings. 11. Must be able to operate phone system providing excellence customer service. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 1. Ability to analyze data and advise management team on issues or necessary changes. 2. Working knowledge of procedures, rules and regulations related to payroll and HR. 3. Possess strong record keeping skills, tend to work as members of a team, and must appreciate the nature of working with personal and sensitive information. 4. Ability to effectively use mathematical knowledge and skills to solve problems that commonly occur in business settings. Basic concepts of business math include percentage, ration and proportion. General Requirements: 1. Motivation displays a positive attitude, offers helpful suggestions, works well under pressure and in a team environment, understands and supports customer mission and value statement. 2. Attendance attendance in line with company policy, reliable. 3. Productivity produces acceptable amount of work, completes projects in a timely manner. 4. Training ensures required training classes are completed as scheduled. Physical Requirements: Position is primarily a sedentary role. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones and filing cabinets. Occasional standing, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds is required for position as necessary.
