Summary of Responsibilities This position would be responsible for cultivating student engagement between current and potential WSU students and the Career Development Center. The manager will make recommendations to the Assistant Director regarding best practices for engaging today’s college students. The Student Engagement Manager will be responsible for all of the Career Development Center’s social media accounts including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for the purpose of engaging and interacting with students. They will be responsible for assisting with the career center’s website and monitoring event information in Handshake database. The Student Engagement Manager will post information on the University’s events calendar as well as assist in communicating regularly with the Office of Strategic Communication to promote our programs, services and events to students through the WSU Today, Shocker Blast and special news segments. The Student Engagement Manager will engage and interact with current WSU cooperative education and internship students for the purpose of “telling their story” to further promote applied learning on the WSU campus and engage more students in the cooperative education and internship program. This position will create stories, photos and videos promoting our co-op/internship students. This position will create, manage and maintain weekly email correspondence with students engaging them in employer activity on campus, career programing and promote co-op/internship positions. The Student Engagement Manager will lend their expertise and support to event planning teams. The manager will work closely with Assistant Director and appropriate career center staff involving the development and delivery of key student engagement activities to include but not limited to biennial Athletic Career Forum, Majors/Minors Fair, Root Beer Kegger, and Dine |Dress | Interview seminars. This position will serve as the lead contact with the Office of Admissions. They will attend Admissions events on the Career Development Center’s behalf and engage with prospective WSU students. Events include, but are not limited to: Discover WSU Events (road trips), Shocker Honors Scholars Receptions, Junior/Senior Days, Black and Yellow Days, Distinguished Scholarship Invitational, Shocker Saturdays, National Merit Lunch, Diversity Leadership Symposium, and Access College Today. The Student Engagement Manager will be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision. The Student Engagement Manager will provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers. This position reports to and works closely with the Assistant Director. The Student Engagement Manager will provide oversite of student intern in the absence of the Assistant Director. Minimum Education •Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Minimum Experience •Experience in engaging targeted clients. •Minimum of one year experience in communication, public relations or related fields. •Experience in Adobe software. •Experience in event planning and project management. •Experience in AP style writing. Knowledge, skills and abilities •Knowledge and ability to use the internet and latest social media tools. •Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff. •Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism. •Excellent writing and verbal skills. (Proper usage of the English language in writing and speech.) •Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. •Proficient at using a Macintosh computer. •Proficient at creating and editing in iMovie.
