Job Title: Technician IV Supply Department
School Service Center
8 hours per day/40 hours per week/260 days per year
Range I
Position Function: This is a working position in which this person must have the necessary background and skills to perform the duties and accept the responsibilities as listed below. This position also requires this person to fill in for their direct supervising Technical Assistant in the absence of that individual.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Assist Technical Assistant with the activities and route schedules of all crewpersons assigned to the Receiving, Warehouse, Delivery, Mail, Fixed Assets and food delivery sections.
Perform the job of any crewperson (food, mail or material) in the absence of that persons
Accurately process all paperwork necessary for department records
Observe all laws governing motor vehicle operation and perform duties in a safe and expeditious manner
Load, deliver and unload supplies, groceries, mail and other items assigned to the Supply Center for stock or delivery
Maintain accurate physical control over inventory, materials and equipment
Ensures department automotive equipment and material handling equipment are safely operated and maintained in a manner to prolong the effective life of the equipment
Observe all safety standards and immediately report accidents and equipment malfunctions to supervisor
Have a working knowledge all Mailroom, Receiving, Warehouse, Fixed Asset and Supply/Food Delivery procedures
Additional Duties: Performs additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Equipment: This position requires the ability to use and operate material handling equipment, mail processing equipment, SMART boards, iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computer, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259s guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Travel between schools buildings and a district office is required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Ability to work indoors in extreme heat and cold and outdoors in inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow
Regular attendance required to meet the demands of the position and for effective teamwork
Ability to work overtime on short notice may be required
Attendance at required meetings
Ability to bend, twist, balance, stoop and kneel
Lifting of 20-50 pounds and occasional lifting of 50-100 pounds is required
Normal work day is from 7:00AM to 3:30PM (exception: mail and food delivery) with occasional overtime as situations dictate
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Proficient knowledge of computers, 10-key, and other calculation equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and customers
Use of good judgment to make decisions on department tasks/assignments
Ability to communicate effectively with a supervisor when their discretion is needed
Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality
Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance
Knowledge of USD 259s mission, purpose, goals and the role of every team member in support of that mission
Computer, math, and reading proficiency and the ability to effectively use department computer systems as well as associated software programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, which will be determined and validated by HR skills testing
Interrelations:
Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks
Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employees supervisor or building administrator
All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Qualification Profile:
Must have a Valid Kansas Drivers license
Must have or obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B within 90 days of employment
Must have or be able to obtain a Material Handling Equipment Certification within 90 days of employment
A High School education or GED is required for this position
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department Specifics:
Accurately checks-in received supplies and equipment against purchase order and receiving documents in to warehouse computer system
Processes all receiving records in a timely, accurate manner
Assists Technical Assistants in processing all incoming and outgoing supplies scheduled for pick up or delivery by district or commercial truck lines
Processes stock requests for delivery in a timely, accurate manner and returned stock items per district requirements
Maintains the stock database: adding new items, deleting obsolete items and changing product descriptions in warehouse computer system
Receives, inspects, inventories and stocks all warehouse supplies
Organizes, adjusts and maintains warehouse space, racks, and shelves to accommodate supplies
Processes, meters and maintains accurate records for US mail and bulk mailings at district Administrative Office
Keeps records and initiates reports for accurately charging accounts for postage, maintains sufficient postage balance on mail meter machine.
Pickup and delivery of mail to SSC, AMAC and MIS and distributes mail throughout the AMAC building
