Salary Range: $18.00-$23.00 per hour

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Front Desk/Intake Specialist is responsible for the intake and greeting of customers at the front desk, daily customer flow and communicating with all departments regarding information of daily events.  Assists customers of the Wichita Workforce Center by explaining, clarifying and interpreting general policies and procedures related to center services, partner programs, and agencies operating at the Wichita Workforce Center and in the community to obtain employment and training services.  This position requires skill in dealing with difficult persons and situations, utilizing the resources of the workforce development community and partner agencies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the workforce development system in SC Kansas.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in all aspects of Career Center operations, including the following:

  • Greet all customers entering the Workforce Center in a prompt and professional manner
  • Process general intake and provide notice to staff of customers needing services
  • Serve as the primary point of contact at the front desk, ensuring consistent daily coverage
  • Assist in the training and daily communication with front desk back up coverage

  • Communicate with all Departments to ensure staff is aware of scheduled events  
  • Communicate if traffic flow increases to gather additional resources to assist customers
  • Ensure Self Service Area runs smoothly
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and report concerns from the public and customers to Directors, Managers, and representatives of workforce development entities
  • Provide assistance to customers with all aspects of services, including technological resources, assistive devices, and access to interpretation services as needed
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education and experience in customer service and hospitality
  • Knowledge and understanding of Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) and related workforce development services
  • Organization- Plans tasks and projects for completion in a timely and organized manner
  • Dependability- Is punctual and maintains regular attendance
  • Initiative- Takes initiative and provides creative ideas to improve processes
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and departments
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, database programs and ability to work in multiple programs across multiple screens at the same time

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Kansas WORKReady! Certificate
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or fluent in signing for the deaf
