SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

TheWorkforce Professional/Customer Support (WP/CS) position is responsible for assisting Workforce Center customers in identifying the most appropriate tools and resources available within the local workforce development system that match customers’ employment related needs; Workforce Center customers include employers and job seekers.   For job seekers, the Workforce Professional will assist in greeting/intake and developing appropriate plans of action to lead to completion of educational/training activities and obtaining/retaining employment.    For employers, the Workforce Professional will assist in recruiting skilled workers and finding solutions to their business challenges.  The WP/CS will work with the partner agencies operating in the Local Area IV Workforce Centers to accomplish a seamless and integrated service delivery model.  

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in all aspects of Career Center operations, including the following:

  • Staff front desk/intake operations at least half time if not full-time, during certain operational modes
  • Assist with phones and voice mail returns as needed
  • Provide Job Seeker Services in person (Workforce Center’s and Partner Locations) and online
  • Greet all customers entering the Workforce Center in a prompt and professional manner
  • Conduct an initial assessment with customers
  • Assist customers with KANSASWORKS registration
  • One-on-one job search coaching
  • Assist job seekers with skill assessments
  • Provide guidance on educational opportunities
  • Maintain records and process requests for funding
  • Provide online chat support
  • Referrals to partner and community agencies as appropriate
  • Review and prescreen employer applications completed by job seekers
  • Determine suitability and eligibility for workforce development program
  • Facilitate workshops
  • Provide case management services in accordance with policies, procedures, and forms of the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas
  • Document customer contact and activity through case notes in KANSASWORKS and other electronic systems
  • Maintain contact and track customer progress and performance outcomes
  • Maintain electronic and paper customer files
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Baccalaureate degree
  • Experience in administering workforce development programs or case management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
  • Outgoing, welcoming, and engaging with customers in person and online
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Dependable/punctual
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with management, co-workers, partners, and the general public.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of workforce development programs and/or case management
  • Kansas WORKReady! Certificate
  • Bi-lingual
