Workforce Centers to reopen to the public on March 8, 2021
WICHITA (March 4, 2020) — In the midst of required social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas implemented a plan to provide workforce services to employers and jobseekers though online platforms, telephone contact and virtual communications in 2020. As the COVID-19 percent positive rate has decreased and vaccination distribution has increased, Workforce Centers are reinstating limited in-person services at the Wichita, Butler and Sumner locations beginning March 8, 2021.
The Workforce Centers are currently accepting appointments for in-person services including resume and job search assistance, pre-employment assessments, skills training program eligibility and enrollments. The hours of operations will be Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Fridays from 9:00 am to Noon. Walk-in traffic for public computer access, printing, copying, or faxing, will be available at all locations during designated Tech Time, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Noon to 4 pm.
Health and safety precautions will be in effect and customers and staff including temperature and symptom questionnaire screening, additional sanitation efforts, and adequate social distance, and Plexiglas barriers are between workstations.
Staff and customers at all locations will be required to wear a mask while inside the Workforce Center. Masks will be provided onsite for customers who do not have one when they arrive for their appointment. Virtual appointments can be scheduled for customers who do not wish to wear a mask.
Computers will be available in the career center on a limited basis by appointment. In-person workshops and group classes remain suspended until group size limitations are lifted. However, video tutorials are currently available on the Workforce Centers’ YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/channel/UCEhcdMwO8xeFY3q-bdpa3tw.
