Work-Based Learning Opportunities to Engage Students


  • Career or Job Fairs - attending career exploration and hiring events onsite at schools 
  • Classroom visits - onsite presentations to classrooms
  • Facility Tours for Students - hosting student groups of 10-30 onsite at your company for a 30-90 minute tour
  • Job Shadow opportunities - allowing 1-4 students to shadow employees onsite at your location for 2-3 hours
  • Mentoring - 1:1 mentorship with a student, typically with high school senior for one semester or academic year
  • One-on-One Video Interview - 30-minute video interview to allow a student to ask about your career trajectory and occupation (as seen on Road Trip Nation - Build Your Future: Wichita)
  • Paid Internship - paid learning experience with the same student over 3-6 weeks, recommended 20-30 hours per week
  • Unpaid Internship - unpaid learning experience with the same student over 3-8 weeks, recommend 5-10 hours per week
  • Hiring high school students in part-time or seasonal jobs
  • Hiring high school seniors for full-time job upon graduation 
  • Sponsoring a Camp HYPE - week-long career exploration for 14-15-year-olds held over the summer ($5,000 - $10,000)
