The Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas Operates Workforce Centers in El Dorado, Wichita, and Wellington. Workforce Centers assist employers with labor exchange functions and assist job seekers with job searches and upskilling.  This position will be working in the community with businesses and travel will be frequent in Sedgwick County with the occasional travel to other parts of the state.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Youth Services Coordinator will support the development and program operations of the Youth Programs of the Workforce Alliance.  The position will assist with intake, assessment, and eligibility of the WIOA Youth Program, and conduct outreach events, client recruitment, worksite development, records management, and reporting. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports and promotes to overall brand of Youth Programming at the Workforce Centers 
  • Primary facilitator for WIOA Youth orientations, information sessions, trainings and workshops
  • Provides support for the planning and execution of youth meetings, events, workshops, and information sessions
  • Conducts initial contacts/assessments of referrals to determine suitability for WIOA Youth Program
  • Conducts regular outreach to community partners to support and expand Youth Programs enrollment and worksite locations and tracks and reports outcomes and achievements
  • Scheduling of referrals for orientations and other youth information sessions
  • Referrals to partner and community agencies as appropriate
  • One-on-one resume reviews and job search coaching with youth participants
  • Participates as needed in on and off-site job fairs, career day events, workshops, seminars, information sessions, partnership meetings and other events to promote the Youth Programs
  • Contacts businesses to solicit work experience job vacancy listings, determine companies’ requirements, and develop relevant tools such as job descriptions in coordination with the Business Services Team
  • Identifies prospective employer partners by using business directories, following leads from existing staff, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences
  • Reviews job orders to match applicants with job requirements, using manual and/or computerized file searches
  • Coordinate and track subsidized placements with necessary providers and partners
  • Maintain worksite paperwork, electronic recordkeeping and reporting
  • Arrange youth participant interviews, review handbooks, and payroll procedures
  • Conduct initial and yearly worksite visits for safety and adequate supervision
  • Maintains existing business accounts while developing new accounts (particularly new business accounts in key industries)
  • Documents customer contacts and activities in KansasWorks, MFiles, Waitwhile and/or other database systems 
  • Assists in the development and execution of the Youth Program communication and social media strategies, live presentations, and other communication resources in partnership with Communications Department or as directed
  • Assist Communications with the development of new outreach materials

 

GENERAL DUTIES:

  •  Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in workforce development and youth services
  • Work within an integrated service delivery model to provide support and assistance to multiple programs within the Workforce Center
  • Works as a team and also independently to achieve goals and outcomes
  • Fills in for others to cover gaps in staffing
  • Maintains punctuality and communicates effectively
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong knowledge of Workforce Centers Services, program eligibility and customer flow and integrated service delivery model
  • Maintain a collaborative and supportive presence at all times and support multiple teams and partners with superior customer service
  • Navigate various systems simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office —Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience with electronic database or management information systems
  • Experience in workforce development programs or case management
  • Experience in facilitation of group meetings/discussions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Baccalaureate Degree required
  • Bilingual and/or know sign language preferred
