Charles contacted the American Job Center for assistance as he had been laid off from a food service chain as a General Manager. He had been earning about $45,000 a year and had worked in the foodservice industry for over 10 years. Charles was seeking employment in a new industry, in order to be able to broaden his skillset and seek stable employment.  Charles was looking for short-term training as he had recently exhausted his unemployment benefits.  Charles had a wife and 4 children to support.  The family was receiving SNAP benefits and the children were receiving health insurance benefits.

Charles worked with his Case Manager on career exploration and the My Next Move interest profiler to identify interests and training opportunities.  He chose CDL training and was eager to begin training. Charles enrolled and successfully completed CDL Class A training at a local training provider.

Charles obtained employment with a trucking company as an Over the Road truck driver soon after completion of training. He is working full time, earning $57,000 a year with full benefits.  He is also eligible for bonuses and incentive pay.
