Tico contacted the Workforce Center seeking assistance in obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License. In 2019 he was laid off from the company he had been employed at for 14 years as a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist. He desperately needed to earn his prior wage of $20.00 per hour to support his 14 children and was discouraged when all the CNC jobs he applied for offered wages of $15.00 per hour or less.
Tico worked with his case manager along with a Business Service Representative who were able to land him an interview during his next appointment at the Workforce Center. Tico was only able to be reached ahead of time via email to inform him of the interview as he lacked the funds to afford a phone but was offered a position at Figeac for $25.00 per hour.
