Job-Seeker Services Help Alfonso Get Back on the Road

Alfonso had been unemployed for over a year. He was determined to get back into the workforce and knew that his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) could open doors for him, but he recognized the need for assistance in the job search process. He visited the Workforce Center, seeking help with job searching and in crafting a resume that would highlight his qualifications for CDL driving positions.

Upon meeting with a Workforce Professional (WP), Alfonso made use of the provided career guidance. Together they created a tailored resume that highlighted his skills and experience relevant to truck driving. The WP also provided resources and strategies for effective job seeking and completing applications.

Feeling empowered, Alfonso took the initiative to explore job openings on his own. A position on KansasWorks piqued his interest and he returned to the Workforce Center for assistance in applying to Ryder Trucking. With the WP's assistance, Alfonso submitted his application to the company. Merely three days later he received an email inviting him for an interview. Excited and prepared, he attended the interview showcasing his determination and skills.

Less than a week after applying, Alfonso received the news he had been waiting for - he was offered the job at Ryder Trucking. The full-time position paid $22 per hour provided full benefits. This role not only presented financial stability but also the professional environment he had been seeking.
