Laid-Off job-seeker successfully completes training and gains career at Conco
Tiffany
was laid off from her job of 9 years in engineering in March 2023. She was
selected to participate in the REemployment Services Employment Assistance
(RESEA) program as a requirement for her unemployment benefits. The Workforce
Professional meeting with her at the Workforce Center additionally referred
Tiffany to the Dislocated Worker (DW) program so that she might qualify for
financial assistance in obtaining her certificate in Medical Billing and
Coding.
Tiffany
was determined to be eligible for the DW program on 05/01/2023 and Workforce
Professional (WP) assisted Tiffany in enrolling in classes through Butler Ed2Go
for Certified Medical Administrative Assistant with Medical Billing and Coding.
This program was strictly online, so WP was also able to provide a laptop for
her to use.
During
her training, Tiffany continued her job hunt and secured employment at Conco
Construction as a Project Coordinator working 40 hrs per week and earning
$25/hr. Despite working full time and caring for her family, she was able to
successfully complete her training early and quickly improved her position at
work, receiving two raises. Tiffany decided to delay her exam certification in
order to focus on work as she was enjoying the job that much. She now commands
$27.69/hr and is very thankful for the support and resources the Workforce
Center and DW program was able to provide.
