Name:  New Position
Salary Range: $16.50-$22.50 per hour
Primary Work Hours: M-Th 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., F 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. with occasional after-hours duties for events
Work Location: Wichita Workforce Center

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessments to identify youth’s strengths, interests and vocational goals and develop employment plans
  • Provides individualized career planning to prepare youth for employment opportunities and career exploration
  • Maintains contact with youth program customers, track customer progress, track customer performance outcomes
  • Provide workshops and individual coaching sessions providing resume services, interview skills, soft skills and self-advocacy guidance
  • Facilitate work experience placement, work based learning opportunities, and apprenticeships
  • Provide worksite information, prepare for interviews, how to review handbooks, and payroll procedures
  • Work with Business Services team to expand partnerships with local employers/organizations to offer work experiences and apprenticeships
  • Assist local employers to provide accommodations for individuals with disabilities
  • Provide follow-up support to youth participants after placement in work experience/employment to assist with career support and advancement
  • Referrals to partner and community agencies as appropriate
  • Conduct initial and worksite visits for safety and adequate supervision
  • Participates as needed in on and off-site job fairs, career day events, workshops, seminars, information sessions, partnership meetings and other events to promote the Youth Programs
  • Maintains electronic customer files while maintaining confidentiality and PII
  • Respond to customer or contractor emails, voice mails, and referrals within 48 business hours
  • Coordinate with the Fiscal Department for the payment of customer element/service invoices, ensuring obligations and payments are current and according to policy
  • Advocate for the rights and inclusion of youth with disabilities in the workforce
  • Attend Workforce Center Training sessions as appropriate

 

General Duties

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in workforce development and youth services
  • Work within an integrated service delivery model to provide support and assistance to multiple programs within the Workforce Center
  • Works as a team and also independently to achieve goals and outcomes
  • Fills in for others to cover gaps in staffing
  • Maintains punctuality and communicates effectively
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong knowledge of Workforce Centers Services, program eligibility and customer flow and integrated service delivery model
  • Maintain a collaborative and supportive presence at all times and support multiple teams and partners with superior customer service
  • Navigate various systems simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office —Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience with electronic database or management information systems
  • Experience in workforce development programs or case management
  • Experience in facilitation of group meetings/discussions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Baccalaureate Degree required

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Kansas WORKReady! Certificate
  • Bilingual and/or know sign language preferred
