Paths Across Kansas Film Premieres September 28
Kansas is full of opportunity! Roadtrip Nation’s Paths Across Kansas explores how young people can find inspiring careers and build fulfilling lives in their home state.
For decades, young people in Middle America have felt unfair pressure to head to the coasts for high-paying and innovative jobs. But that story is changing. In South Central Kansas, people are finding exciting opportunities in innovative industries right in their backyards. Follow the journeys of five young Kansans as they take a deep dive into their home state's career possibilities. From aerospace and advanced manufacturing to healthcare and agriculture, discover the diverse range of career paths available in South Central Kansas.
Fueled by the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas, Wichita Public Schools, Wichita State University, WSU Tech, the State of Kansas, Strada Foundation, Textron Aviation, Spirit AeroSystems, and Bank of America, Paths Across Kansas will be broadcast regionally in two parts on September 28 and October 5, at 8:30 pm on PBS Kansas.
The project partners will host a premier event at Exploration Place from 5-8 p.m. on September 28. The sold-out event will be an exciting evening as South Central Kansas is highlighted on stage and will be an opportunity to hear from the creators of the film and include a moderated panel discussion with the Roadtrippers, who are all students at Wichita State University. A number of community and business leaders will be in attendance, and the majority of tickets have been dedicated for area teachers to help get the stories, tools, and resources created by Roadtrip Nation into classrooms all across the state. Select Roadtrip Nation staff and Roadtrippers will be available to speak with media at 7:30 p.m.
Along with the film, Roadtrip Nation also created the Wichita Build Your Future website dedicated to career pathways and storytelling in South Central Kansas. The tools and resources generated from this project will help to inspire and motivate the next generation of talented leaders in the Wichita area.
