WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Yingling Aviation is hiring for A&P mechanics right now.

Increased demand for private flights has created more job opportunities in the maintenance of aircraft.

“One thing that the pandemic has done for the general aviation, private aviation of our industry, is many people can afford to fly private. If they can afford to fly private, whether it’s in a fractional, joint-ownership or singular owner aircraft, they are going to fly on their own aircraft,” said Jerry Pickett, vice president of business development for Yingling Aviation.

The company recently expanded its footprint in Wichita.

“We happen to be fortunate enough to be growing a great deal in the maintenance and repair operations side of things,” said Pickett. “Mechanics are the core of our business on the maintenance and repair side. That’s where there’s a lot of growth.”

Cody Shugart has been an A&P mechanic for 12 years and said, “These are very well paying jobs. As you keep progressing in your skill set, the pay gets better.
